This is the fourteenth of my "Find your wings and fly away" pictures and for this one I created a bluey purple to light pink graduated watercolour painting of different swirling lines.
I added lines and circles in gold leaf and punch-cut three sizes of butterfly from the painting.

Each of the three dimensional butterflies is decoratively arranged in a graduating colour square attached to heavy watercolour paper within a white glazed deep box frame glazed with glass.

The result is a vibrant bluey purple to light pink modern relief design revealing individual butterflies on closer inspection. Different shadows are cast, and light reflected from the gold leaf on the up-turned wings depending on the direction of the light.
