Find Your Wings and Fly Away — Autumn Mist is part of an ongoing series exploring movement, transition and emotional atmosphere through layered sculptural butterfly forms.

Created from hand-painted watercolour papers, the piece combines rich autumnal tones of burnt orange, ochre, rust, amber, plum and deep teal with softer mist-like hues of pale cream, blush and muted pastel tones. Fine details of gold ink and delicate paint layering create subtle moments of luminosity and texture throughout the composition.

Hundreds of individually cut butterflies gather densely at the upper surface before gradually dispersing into lighter space below, creating a flowing sense of movement and release. The transition from richly saturated colour into softness and openness evokes the changing atmosphere of autumn light — a moment suspended between vibrancy and stillness, abundance and quiet transformation.

Each butterfly is delicately raised from the surface, allowing natural light to cast evolving shadows throughout the day and enhancing the tactile dimensionality of the work. From a distance the piece appears painterly and atmospheric, while closer observation gradually reveals the intricate layering and individuality of each sculptural form.

Balancing richness with softness, Find Your Wings and Fly Away — Autumn Mist sits between contemporary paper sculpture and ornamental relief object — designed to bring warmth, sensory richness and contemplative beauty into interior spaces.

Created through repetitive, meditative processes of painting, cutting and layering, the work reflects an ongoing exploration of restorative aesthetics, tactile beauty and the emotional resonance of colour, movement and transformation.
