Corallium is an intricate sculptural composition inspired by the quiet complexity and rhythmic beauty of coral formations found in the natural world. Comprising twenty-five individually crafted circular forms, the piece explores repetition, texture and organic structure through a carefully balanced arrangement of delicate branching patterns.
Suspended against a deep black background, each coral-inspired element is hand-built and individually mounted to create subtle dimensional movement and an evolving interplay of light and shadow throughout the day. As natural light shifts across the surface, the sculpture gradually reveals new layers of detail, depth and contrast — inviting a slower, more immersive way of looking.
The colour palette is inspired by the oxidised surface tones of aged copper and bronze, where soft verdigris hues emerge naturally over time. These mineral-like tones bring a sense of quiet luminosity to the work, balancing richness with restraint and enhancing the tactile quality of the sculptural forms.
Created using polymer clay, calcium carbonate, acrylic mediums, paint, gold leaf and layered surface finishes, Corallium sits between contemporary wall sculpture and ornamental object — designed to bring a sense of calm, texture and sensory depth into interior spaces.
Both meditative and architectural in nature, the piece reflects an ongoing exploration of organic repetition, tactile beauty and the restorative relationship between art, pattern and stillness.
